Welcome to my blog

I hope you enjoy reading my posts, and please leave me a comment. I always enjoy reading them, and will try to visit you in return.

For security reasons for me and for you, I would appreciate it if you would leave your name on your comments.

You are welcome to copy any of my designs, as long as you do not take credit for them yourself. I am very happy for you to sell them. If I have used anyone else's design, I always try to give credit where it is due. If I have missed anything, please let me know and I will put things right.

This is intended to be mainly about my crafting stories, as a personal record of what I do. However, I interpret crafting quite widely, not just paper crafting but other things too. I have a butterfly mind and like to change from one thing to another depending on what I feel like on a given day - knitting, crochet, cross-stitch, cards, baking and several others, including my favourite right now, parchment, both traditional skills and Groovi, very relaxing and calming to do.

I have decided to put some structure into my blog so that each day will have something of a theme.
Monday- for Mindfulness; Tuesday - Tidy Up Day; Wednesday - What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday; Thursday - Technique and Tips; Friday - Finish Off Day; Saturday - Start Something New; Sunday - Anything Goes
These themes are not hard and fast and will be changed if I feel the need.

WOYWW - 243 - It was there all the time!

Good morning, Julia, and all you busy WOYWWers this week.  For those who are new to crafting, just slip over to Julia's Stamping Ground Blog and all will be explained far better than I could.

It has been a long time since I saw this much of my desk.  I had actually cleared the whole thing this afternoon, but I thought it might look too shocking and boring if I did not put one of two oddments on it somewhere.

There are a couple of newish Clarity stamps, still in their packets until I have catalogued them properly.  There is also a Clarity envelope to the left, all ready for a special project (If you are reading this, Sam, I have ideas just ready to put into place).

My large baby powder is there ready for a multitude of uses, from covering up badly placed glue to preventing static while heat embossing.  Next to is my newest Speedball brayer.  The older one has been relegated to applying acrylic ink to the Gelli Plate.  I will leave it to you to see what else is still there, including my WOYWW badge.

I have even managed to test out my new printer - I only had it three months ago, when the other one had a total mental breakdown and refused to print anything sensibly or legibly.  The new one (Epson) prints almost as well as my wonderful Epson Photo.  I still need to see if it will print the same thickness of card as the Photo, but the quality so far is good.

I also spent quite a lot of time trying to find out why I could not get any volume to listen to my music.  It was only after a couple of updates and a lot of messing around that I realised what the problem was.  Can you guess?  I am sure you can!

It was an afternoon of finding lots of goodies, and then losing things that were in my hands two minutes before, including a whole pack of Christmas toppers, ready to start for this year.  They did turn up just as I came downstairs to have my home made mushroom soup for tea (Yum and just enough for tea tomorrow, and no cream or other bad calories in it either).

If the police helicopter sits on top of my roof again tonight, I shall get up a and make a couple of quick cards.  More productive than lying there trying to stop the dogs going berserk at the dreadful row.  I think they were all round the town last night, as everyone at the gym was chuntering about it.  There is one good thing - when they are there, you have no chance of being burgled.

If you have got to this point in my post, it is probably time for you to visit some of the other people showing their desks this week at Stamping Ground, courtesy of Lady Julia Dunnit.  I hope you will find a moment to leave me a comment, and I will visit you in return.

Holy cow, Maggie. am I at the right desk? Wonderful clean-up. Good to read that you got your music to work and your new printer is printing. Time spent doing those tasks are always worthwhile.

Happy WOYWW from #1.

Looking forward to seeing what you create with those new stamps. I do admire your ability to catalogue before you start using the stamps. Pretty pics of the birds. You must come to OZ we have birds by the millions often making a beautiful racket outside my windows.

Oh good grief, police helicopters circling your roof? That sounds very unpleasant!

Very fine peek at your desk, Maggie--I'm spying all those inks and Sharpies, thinking how much fun they'd be!

A Happy WOYWW to you!

I know what you mean about the dogs going berserk. My dogs bark when someone drives up the road. I hope you got some cards done.

Morning Marg, just got in and off to bed in a minute. Those helicopters do make a dreadful noise, I agree. I can imagine what your dogs make of it!. Glad the sorting is going well, just keep repeating' it'll look lovely when its finished', ad nauseum. Speak soon, Love Shaz xx

Hi Maggie and happy WOYWW. My desk is only that tidy when I have people for lunch - it doubles as my dining table. Just spotted all the rolls of tape on the left, have you got enough there :-,)
We normally do the garden bird watch thing but as we only seem to get wood pigeons at present I didn't do it this year. Think all my birds must be on holiday.

Well done, Maggie - don't you just love it when a plan comes together?! All done and ready to play. I love that bag of small bottles - full of colour and anticipation.
Have a great week - and looking at the fact that you are number 2 suggests the police were out again last night?

Thanks for the peek at your desk. I never would have thought to use talc, what a brilliant idea, thank you!
I hope the helicopter gives you some peace.

I bet the dogs were barking, think I'd have been joining in! It's a bit antisocial flying that low at night but I suppose if they're catching criminals then that can only be a good thing! Your desk is looking good btw!

Afternoon. Bit late visiting for number of reasons. How do you use talc for antistatic? Do tell. That is one of my chief problems when embossing and I am always losing antistatic bag.
That Police helicopter must swap between our house and yours. they always seem to be above ours too. Nice to see a tidy desk, I;d like mine to be tidy more often but don't seem to be able to achieve it, you have done well.

My guess is that something was not plugged in properly to make noise. Either that or cord was actually stolen and that's why the police helicopter was there. Good to see your community takes theft seriously! Such a nice tidy desk! Have fun messing it all up again!! Judy #96

I do believe the helicopter would drive me to a barking frenzy right along with the dogs!

I always keep baby powder on hand too. I found a recipe for home made modeling paste that also calls for talc or baby power.

Hope the noise level gets back to normal.

I laughed at the comment about finding and losing things in a matter of minutes. I *so* relate! :D But your workspace does look nice and tidy and organized and I'm confident you'll have great fun messing it all up!

I am glad you are happy with your new printer! Those kinds of purchases are so difficult, because then it is difficult to remedy the situation. Also, I notice you have a lot of nice inks. How fun! Congratulations on being #2 this week! :) Sharon # 26

What fun, a lovely new bird banner to enjoy this evening. I see your earlier post is something birdie, so will browse that after commenting. Enjoyed visiting your desk, and was interested to see you've delegated a Gelli specific brayer. I have been wondering about that. (On the off chance that one day I'll do more than move my Gelli over to the spraying area from where it had been stored). Also admire your dedication to cataloguing new items. Would that I had started that good habit. Now it's too intimidating to even think about starting (altho I do from time to time!). Good for you in getting your printer set up. I've had a new one since July to put in my stamp area. Not totally functional yet. Hope you didn't get disturbed tonight, and thanks for a fun read this evening. Hugs

Desk still looks busy even if it does look a bit naked! I have been having problems with helicopters recently too and I live thousands of miles away! I live near a big military facility and I guess they are practicing a lot more lately...scary thought! Congrats on making it to #2 you almost knocked Elizabeth out! Thanks for sharing! I am late getting posted again this week so you can find me at #111. Vickie aka Okienurse

Hi Maggie, just taking the opportunity whilst I can (my Internet connection is pretty patchy at the moment, sigh!)to visit. Lovely to see your desk again even if it is super clean and unused looking :) Been using a wee Clarity flower while I experiment with a new technique so have a few lying on my desk too. Living fairly close to a main arterial road we hear the helicopters hovering overhead fairly often too - tracking bad drivers methinks. Oh, and the soup sounds delicious. A belated happy WOYWW, Elizabeth x #70

Hi Maggie,

Your desk looks nice and neat! Mine is slowly getting there. I keep putting things away then rethinking my organization and moving things again!

Not playing along (again this week) but thought I'd stop by and say hello.

I got a new Epson printer too and love it, it is so nifty after the old sluggish one. Thanks for the visit this week, sorry it has taken so long to reply, seem to have a pile of stuff to do but did finish the little felt house which was gratefully received today - phew BJ#72

Nice tidy desk you have there.
You asked why 8 chairs? Actually there are more than that but I am at a friends in the USA (week 5) and her desk has to be my desk at the moment. That is where I have been posting from over the past month or so. It is a teaching desk hence the chairs and the ds tape.
Thanks for the visit earlier.
