Welcome to my blog

I hope you enjoy reading my posts, and please leave me a comment. I always enjoy reading them, and will try to visit you in return.

You are welcome to copy any of my designs, as long as you do not take credit for them yourself. I am very happy for you to sell them. If I have used anyone else's design, I always try to give credit where it is due. If I have missed anything, please let me know and I will put things right.

This is intended to be mainly about my crafting stories, as a personal record of what I do. However, I interpret crafting quite widely, not just paper crafting but other things too. I have a butterfly mind and like to change from one thing to another depending on what I feel like on a given day - knitting, crochet, cross-stitch, cards, baking and several others.

WOYWW 248 - Spring is coming, what happened to Winter?

Sorry, no desk again this week.  I do have a valid excuse, honest I do Julia.  I can't actually get to my desk again, but it is not my fault.

I went into the kitchen last night and glanced over into the corner, did a double take and, yes, it was there - water marks on the ceiling and two walls.  They weren't there earlier.  Needless to say, panic set in, what should I do?  Well, it wasn't running down the walls, so I decided to watch and wait, after ringing my builders, who know where every pipe is.  It had not got any worse by bedtime, so I tried to convince myself to ignore it.

By morning, it had diminished a bit, and when they came, we could not decide where it was coming from, so there will be more investigations in depth tomorrow.  Now you are saying what has all this to do with my craft room.  Well, that is directly above the kitchen, and we could not decide whether a section of that wall was damp or just cold.  So cupboards had to be moved, and the carpet may have to come up partially to allow a hole to be cut in the floor boards tomorrow.  Boo, hoo!

Anyway, rather than leave you with a blank page, I spotted these celandines brightening up the roadside, when I was on the way home from having the tailgate lock on the Disco replaced.  There was no-one rushing to get past me on this very narrow lane, so I just grabbed my phone.  They quite cheered me up.

Apologies to all those I did not manage to get back to this last week.  Every time I settled down for a good blog, life took over and pinched my time.  I have read all your comments and love them all, so thank you.  I will try to do better this week, but I cannot promise.

Do visit Julia at Stamping Ground and follow the links to loads of other fantastic desks and crafts.  You will be made very welcome.

Oh Maggie, this is the most horrible thing I can think of. I have the same thing happening in my basement, because of a broken pipe in my kitchen. So of course, I feel your pain. At least you have people to help. Hope you get things straightened out soon. Happy WOYWW from #1.

Oh poop, I really hope that they discover the cause of the wet patch and it doesn't prove to be expensive. Love the pretty flowers, camera phones are so handy for stuff like that, aren't they? Annette #3 or near it!

I hope you find the leak if there is one quickly. And I hope you can get to your craft room soon. The flowers brightened my day, too.

Your flowers are pretty, and the thought of water scares me. Many have had broken pipes here with the constant cold. A scare with no water last week but turned out to be a fuse..so many electrical surges we even lost our TV.. A don't know if I could deal with a water mess, already went thru 1 flood a few years back. Have a good week, hope things turn out in your best interest. #24

Hi Maggi don't have, gee I hope you find out what the water problem is, not good when it comes from ones workspace. Friend of mine had a wee problem with water and because the houses are built on cement slabs and walls attached on top the water just flowed right on into the next room, ruined the carpet and all her scrapbooking stuff in a cupboard. Hope you're back at your desk soon, flowers always cheer me up too. Have a great week RobynO#30

ah Maggie I hate to hear you are having problems with your crafting room! I would have freaked out seeing water on the ceiling and walls. Hope they can get it fixed today for you! Love the picture of the flowers. It is so cold and icy here that it gives me hope that spring may eventually get here. Vickie #52

Lovely to see those pretty flowers peeking out and really lovely to see that you stopped and took a photo. We so often forget to stop and admire what is in front of us in our busy days.

Oh, Maggie. What a horrible disappointment for you - just as you were straight again after all the work you had done. I do trust all will get sorted when the builder comes and makes holes!!
Those celandines are lovely. A real encouragement with their brightness.
Take care.

Morning Marg- I would imagine Celandines are the only flower that has loved all the wet weather, liking marshy conditions as they do.I feel for you with the leak- during all this rain we have had water coming into the kitchen through the roof somewhere- waiting for the roofer to came have a look at where its getting in.He needs scaffolding again. Been fine for well over 12 months!Speak soon, and pop over with cable, possibly Friday afternoon? I think Bec misunderstood the conversation the other day, lol. She said you were going to Steves at the weekend, and I asked when, thinking you may be going up Friday- but she said not till Sunday. Love, Shaz xx

Oh no Maggie! how horrible. The only consolation is that you saw the damp..water is so insidious, it can do untold damage and take you by surprise, so it's good that the investigation is already underway. It was worth stopping in the Lane, the little yellow celandine a are so pretty.

Such pretty greenery and delicate flowers near the roadway. I'm so sorry to hear about your wall. Random water in the house is never a good thing. I think maybe you should install a dumbwaiter if they have to cut a hole in the floor. That way you can be crafting merrily away and then send down for a refreshing beverage. Judy #92

I love celandines too, my hedgerow bank is covered with them They gladden my heart....
Oh no, I hate water leaks, they're so hard to trace. I really hope that it's nothing horrendous. Fingers crossed...

Do hope it's something minor dripping and not a major repair. Are you in the area that's had lots of heavy rain and wind. That kind if weather can find the smallest of cracks to get into. Love the spritely yellow flowers. Hugs and Happy WOYWW! Nan G #101
