Welcome to my blog

I hope you enjoy reading my posts, and please leave me a comment. I always enjoy reading them, and will try to visit you in return.

For security reasons for me and for you, I would appreciate it if you would leave your name on your comments.

You are welcome to copy any of my designs, as long as you do not take credit for them yourself. I am very happy for you to sell them. If I have used anyone else's design, I always try to give credit where it is due. If I have missed anything, please let me know and I will put things right.

This is intended to be mainly about my crafting stories, as a personal record of what I do. However, I interpret crafting quite widely, not just paper crafting but other things too. I have a butterfly mind and like to change from one thing to another depending on what I feel like on a given day - knitting, crochet, cross-stitch, cards, baking and several others, including my favourite right now, parchment, both traditional skills and Groovi, very relaxing and calming to do.

I have decided to put some structure into my blog so that each day will have something of a theme.
Monday- for Mindfulness; Tuesday - Tidy Up Day; Wednesday - What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday; Thursday - Technique and Tips; Friday - Finish Off Day; Saturday - Start Something New; Sunday - Anything Goes
These themes are not hard and fast and will be changed if I feel the need.

The mysteries of life

There are lots of mysteries in life, but as individuals, we can only deal with the ones that directly impact on us.

Today's mystery for you to find the solution for is this.  When the temperature outside is freezing but the temperature inside is high, why then does a glass of water cool to well below the inside temperature?  Surely, it should cool to the ambient temperature in the room.

Also on the subject of temperature, why does 19 degrees C feel hot in the summer but quite chilly in the winter in the house?

We were commenting yesterday that while the outside temperature was the same as it has been the past several mornings it seemed much colder than it had been. I think it has something to do with the earth cooling down with the weather, like the cold has sunk in. Plus I'll bet humidity has something to do with it too. But yes! I warm my house to 72 F in the winter but you would never catch me cooling it to 72 in the summer. It'd be way too cold and I couldn't afford it!

My brain is too tired at the moment to think about all this, & I'm not scientific anyway! But I'll agree with Judy...in winter we start at 70F(daytime), no matter what the outside temp is, and bump it up as needed. In summer, it's 78F & dropped as needed if (gasp!) any cooking is necessary. I work hard to ensure that this doesn't happen frequently. The electric bill would be so costly, that's all we could handle!! Good questions though. Shows you have a very scientific way of thinking. Hugs
