Welcome to my blog

I hope you enjoy reading my posts, and please leave me a comment. I always enjoy reading them, and will try to visit you in return.

For security reasons for me and for you, I would appreciate it if you would leave your name on your comments.

You are welcome to copy any of my designs, as long as you do not take credit for them yourself. I am very happy for you to sell them. If I have used anyone else's design, I always try to give credit where it is due. If I have missed anything, please let me know and I will put things right.

This is intended to be mainly about my crafting stories, as a personal record of what I do. However, I interpret crafting quite widely, not just paper crafting but other things too. I have a butterfly mind and like to change from one thing to another depending on what I feel like on a given day - knitting, crochet, cross-stitch, cards, baking and several others, including my favourite right now, parchment, both traditional skills and Groovi, very relaxing and calming to do.

I have decided to put some structure into my blog so that each day will have something of a theme.
Monday- for Mindfulness; Tuesday - Tidy Up Day; Wednesday - What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday; Thursday - Technique and Tips; Friday - Finish Off Day; Saturday - Start Something New; Sunday - Anything Goes
These themes are not hard and fast and will be changed if I feel the need.

WOYWW 215

As you can see, the roof is progressing well, but there is still a lot of work to do.  This photo was taken a couple of days ago, and things have moved on since then, but there are still two smaller roofs to be done.  I am so glad I have had this job done as I found out at the weekend that the adjoining house has already had leaks coming through into the front bedroom.

However, you have not come to see my roof, fascinating though it may be.  This is the day we all visit each other to see what we have all got to show on our desks, courtesy of our great leader, Julia, who resides over at Stamping Ground

This is the first time for a few weeks that you have actually seen my desk, and I am thoroughly ashamed of it.  It is in the state it was in over three months ago, but I did get in there on Sunday and find enough space to make two cards.

I do need, very urgently to clear the desk end of my craft room as there is some remedial work (as a result of the roofing) to be done, and, at the moment, they would not get there to do that work.  So I finally found a few minutes to get in there today.  This is the shot before I started.  It is not really proper sorting out as I am just gathering everything up into big boxes and taking those into another room (I do intend to sort them as I bring everything back later).

You have seen the front of the house.  this is the view from my craft room window.  Even the window will not really open properly as it hits the scaffold planks.  Hopefully, the level of the scaffolding will be lowered next week once the main roof is complete  and so that they can come down to work on the two smaller roofs over the dining room and the front porch.
Remember, I did say, this was not a proper sort out yet.  However, I thought it would be a good idea to keep all the Clarity things together, the ones that don't have a real home yet.  Two of my shelves are filled with crafting cd's and dvd's, which don't need to be accessible, as they are already copied onto my crafting computer for ease of use.  So the originals will be removed and stored elsewhere, allowing me to move the extra Clarity boxes onto those shelves, once I have indexed them.  At the moment, though, my desk looks just as bad as when I started - just with a different stash in place.  You can also see a couple of new acquisitions - a couple of Spellbinders, some Pinflair glue gel, and a set of Distress marker pens.

It is unlikely that the tidying up will continue tomorrow as I have to take Flash for his jabs first thing and then go to the solicitors later.  The afternoon is far to hot to work in there in this weather, so it will have to wiat another couple of days.

Hope you are all surviving this intense heat over here, and getting some good crafting done.  I hope to visit you all later.  Meanwhile, have a good week, and thank you for visiting me.

I'm actually quite glad you shared your roof progress with us. It's great to see it come along. I know you will be glad when that scaffolding comes down.

And I always tell people the organization and clean out project always gets worse before it gets better. Happy WOYWW from #2.

Sounds like your renovations/repairs are keeping you from your crafting, but you have made a good start on tidying up your desk/craft area for the work to be done. Enjoy your week and Happy WOYWW! Danie #32

Your roof looks like it's coming along well, you'll be hoping the weather doesn't break till they finish, though I could do with it cooling down a touch!!
Good to see you got to your desk even for a while. Hope today goes ok. Helen 19

What a lovely chatty post Maggie glad to see you are getting things sorted - I usually just move mine from one side of the room to the other before it all goes back to where it was lol

You guys are having our summer heat...we have that for days on end, but then this is Africa! Do remember to store your Distress markers on their side. I see the new packaging says so on it! #57

I know your desk needs to be sorted, but you do have some interesting materials on it - all those lovely Distress Markers. WOYWW has been introducing me to some new things - for example - what is Pinflair Gel? Hope you have a good day and manage not to be too affected by this heat-wave - hope Flash isn't too affected either! Julie Ann x #45

I can spot clear areas on your crafting table so you're getting there! And putting everything into a big box to move to another room means you get chance to have a good old tidy up when you bring it all back again. I love having a good old tidy up ... just it never lasts very long!
Awful upheaval with your roof but well worth it and you can then tick it off the list and forget about it.
I'm finding it far too hot to work anywhere ... 8.30am (ish) and already got both sets of French doors open and the fan whirring away and MUST make Phil a card for Sunday ... but that could wait until tomorrow! Or Friday! Love Debbie xXx

Hi Maggie
great news that the roof is at last taking shape. my concern is for your poor desk, will it have space for your to craft and when you craft will you need the things you put in the boxes?

Hi Maggie, good to see your craft room again, and learn that you did find time to make a couple of cards recently. I think the heat is preventing many of us from getting any crafting done ... in fact, I'm being lured outside as I type because the garden looks so inviting. Once you get settled again you are going to have a whole lot of fun with those distress markers and the new stamps sets. Oh, and did you have to mention indexing ... I am so behind with that task. Hope your day goes well and that you have a good week. Elizabeth x #47

LOL, I do look forward to when your life is all back to 'normal' - sure you do too.
Nice to see your desk, although not much going on right now.

Not so much going on with me either in the heat. Hope Flash got on ok with the jabs.

I'm guessing that once the work is all done it will be a great time to sort and reorganize. In the meantime, just make the best of it. It always has to get worse before it can get better. :-)

Happy woyww!

Hi Marg, glad to hear the roof is going well. i remember with ours, not being able to open some windows because of the scaffolding. Well done with the DI Markers, they are so easy to use. Now you'll have to add the seasonal colours he's about to release, lol.Have a good week, speak soon, Love Shaz xx

Hello Maggie, thank you for sharing your desk and it sure is good to hear that the roof is progressing nicely.

The weather is gorgeous and I am making the most of this summer we are having at last. Reminds me of when we were younger and on school holidays when the sun always shone. Enjoy the rest of your week.

We're having the roof of our new house done at the moment, too! We've got PINK scaffolding lol! Lots of other work going on, too, including my amazing new ARTHaven - hop over to my blog and have a look! When it's finished, it's going to take me ages to get everything in, and start creating again.

This heat is doing me in. I can't stand it, and just wish it would cool off!

Why does a proper sort out seem like SUCH a good idea when you begin, and feel like such a mistake when you are 1/2 way thru, then such a joy when you are finally done? :D

Gosh I really feel for you having the house renovated and all the tradies there all the time, it is so time consuming and you have to be on hand to answer questions to problems that arrise, I am going through the same thing myself getting things done around the house, it will end and when it does your house will look and feel fantastic. Do try and steal a little time in the craft room and it really does help the soul recover. Sorry I am visiting late but hey I have enjoyed my visit and thanks for sharing it been wonderful.

Thanks for your visit and comment Maggie - whatever happened before, this one got through OK. Yes, all the roofers are suffering under the merciless sun, aren't they - probably worse than a downpour!! Hope your roofing project is completed successfully. Our scaffolding at the front is coming down next week and they shouldn't be too much longer at the back, the rate they're going!
