Welcome to my blog

I hope you enjoy reading my posts, and please leave me a comment. I always enjoy reading them, and will try to visit you in return.

For security reasons for me and for you, I would appreciate it if you would leave your name on your comments.

You are welcome to copy any of my designs, as long as you do not take credit for them yourself. I am very happy for you to sell them. If I have used anyone else's design, I always try to give credit where it is due. If I have missed anything, please let me know and I will put things right.

This is intended to be mainly about my crafting stories, as a personal record of what I do. However, I interpret crafting quite widely, not just paper crafting but other things too. I have a butterfly mind and like to change from one thing to another depending on what I feel like on a given day - knitting, crochet, cross-stitch, cards, baking and several others, including my favourite right now, parchment, both traditional skills and Groovi, very relaxing and calming to do.

I have decided to put some structure into my blog so that each day will have something of a theme.
Monday- for Mindfulness; Tuesday - Tidy Up Day; Wednesday - What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday; Thursday - Technique and Tips; Friday - Finish Off Day; Saturday - Start Something New; Sunday - Anything Goes
These themes are not hard and fast and will be changed if I feel the need.

WOYWW 207 - What a mess!

As the title says - what a mess!  Not surprising really, as there has been no work attempted in here for nearly two months, and anything that is crafting based has been aimed into there from the doorway. The only thing I have done in there was my personal card for the flowers, and squeeze past the heaps of stuff to put my Kindle on charge in the morning and to take it off charge at bedtime.

THINGS MUST CHANGE!!!!!!

OK, it will probably be a long time till I get back to real organisation, and settling down to working properly.  I need to clear spaces elsewhere in the house to store things like my CDRom's, which I do not need close at hand.  They are all downloaded on the computer to make them quicker and easier to sort through and use.  Once they are moved, I can use their space for my new Clarity stamps so they are easy to grab to use.

Having read Julia's post about poor quality stamps, I quite agree that we should not waste our time trying to work with companies like that.  Having had some cheap or free ones in the past, I tend now to stick to companies I know do quality.  There is nothing more frustrating than spending hours trying to create a design and for it to go wrong due to poor quality tools and card.  I also try very hard to stick to British companies, where possible, and I like my stamps to be see through, which helps if you are trying to create a landscape.

If you have had enough of the distressing mess that is my craft room, then just nip over to Julia's, where you will find more desks and rooms that are probably rather tidier and productive than mine.  I shall not be taking part in the ATC swap for the 4th birthday WOYWW celebrations, but I look forward to seeing what everyone shows.  Have a good week, all of you.  xxx

Hi Maggie! Good to see you posting.I did wryly smile that stuff has been 'aimed' into your craft room from the door way.Sorting it out is a job just to do in your own time, when you feel like it...........so long as the door will still close you're fine :)

Happy WOYWW, hugs, Di xx

Hi Maggie, I did have to have a giggle over your room, it looks much like mine, except I have mine stacked with furniture too! I feel your pain....hope it won't be too long before we both get our rooms sorted. Happy WOYWW, Anne x #53

It doesn't distress me - and I'm guessing that one day you'll wake up and pouf! get it tackled. As with so much Maggie, change brings change and you have to be in the mood to embrace it, even when it touches parts of your life that you don't expect it to. New clarity stamps. Mmmmmmm.

Hi Margaret. Glad you are at least thinking of getting back to crafting.Your room looks not too bad and reasonably organized, as we are still trying to downsize to 3 bed bungalow from 6 bed house we have a study/craft room in a terrible state. Just to add a little pressure we are having new radiators in next week so need to clear half of the room!!!
Have been to Castleton Derbyshire for a week and enjoyed it but weather not to good. Love Judith

Some would call it a "distressing mess" be we crafters would call you room a goldmine of treasures. Wouldn't we all love to have a little peek in all those boxes. I imagine your kindle has been well used.... I can't imagine going back to a real book.

Quite agree about poor quality stamps. When I first started stamping I thought I couldn't do it, didn't realise that stamps and ink varied so much.
Good luck with sorting out!

Hi Maggie, take it easy and do a little bit as a time. Totally agree with you about quality stamps. Always buy British made stamps.

Hi Maggie, establishing a new routine is bound to take time, just take it at your own pace. Lovely to see your messy crafty space, even if nothing much happening there :-)

Not much time for crafting here as I;m laid up with ligament damage to my knee, and my craft room is upstairs! Also our house goes on the market this week, so total chaos about to being [sigh]

Your son and everyone else involved so deserved that award - thanks for sharing your proud moment :-0

happy woyww

You know it's good to have to do a big sort out as you will have such a sense of satisfaction when it's done. And the good thing is that there's no rush - it will wait for you to have the time and mindset to attack it! The poor quality stamps and supplies are hopeless and you never get the results you hope for so I totally agree that you should ditch them.

Hi Maggie

How lovely to see your comment today! You know what, I might have got the idea for the glue remover eraser thingie from you on your blog originally?

I saw the Derwent electric eraser on Create and Craft - and it's good to know from you that it works fine 'cos I trust your judgement!

Oh yes, how I remember the x-ray machines in shoe shops. AND, the longing for Cherry Red sandals rather than tan all the time. I did eventually get some and was a very happy little girl.

I've kept meaning to tell you - at Ally Pally in April I got chatting to Barbara Gray, and most of our conversation was about you of course. As you know, everyone at Clarity stamps were so saddened by the news about Geoff - and Barbara said to me quite implicitly that I was to be sure to give you her love when we were next in touch. A lovely and very genuine lady.

You have a lot of friends Maggie who are all thinking about you and hoping to see you crafting again, when you feel the time is right. We'll all still be here waiting for you.

Take care my friend!

Love and hugs, Di xx

Maggie, I just popped in to see if you had been posting, and have been enjoying a lovely read. Had to laugh when I saw your craft room. Oh did it ever make me feel right at home. I have one that is distressingly similar...maybe worse???I like your floor storage. THat's my current system too! I have not been visiting WOYWW for a while, just not enough time to pay visits. I'm happy to see you are crafting again. I had thought of you and hoped things were adjusting ok for you. Hugs.
