Welcome to my blog

I hope you enjoy reading my posts, and please leave me a comment. I always enjoy reading them, and will try to visit you in return.

For security reasons for me and for you, I would appreciate it if you would leave your name on your comments.

You are welcome to copy any of my designs, as long as you do not take credit for them yourself. I am very happy for you to sell them. If I have used anyone else's design, I always try to give credit where it is due. If I have missed anything, please let me know and I will put things right.

This is intended to be mainly about my crafting stories, as a personal record of what I do. However, I interpret crafting quite widely, not just paper crafting but other things too. I have a butterfly mind and like to change from one thing to another depending on what I feel like on a given day - knitting, crochet, cross-stitch, cards, baking and several others, including my favourite right now, parchment, both traditional skills and Groovi, very relaxing and calming to do.

I have decided to put some structure into my blog so that each day will have something of a theme.
Monday- for Mindfulness; Tuesday - Tidy Up Day; Wednesday - What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday; Thursday - Technique and Tips; Friday - Finish Off Day; Saturday - Start Something New; Sunday - Anything Goes
These themes are not hard and fast and will be changed if I feel the need.

WOYWW - 137

This is a scheduled post, so this is actually my desk on Tuesday evening, but it won't change before tomorrow afternoon.  Could be tidier, but I can see some of my cutting mat, so that is good.  Tomorrow, I need to clear everything off as I have some sewing to do, if I can remember where my machine is and how it works.  It is not my favourite job, turning up jeans and other trousers - boring, but necessary.  Once that is done, then I have permission from myself to have a real blitz on stamping and brayering etc - whooppee....

The first card with lilies and the dragonfly  is one of the many decoupage sheets I have bought or printed out.  I am determined to get through as many as possible to clear some space in that area.  Most I have had for so long that I cannot remember who designed them or where I bought them, so I apologise for that.  However i do not apologise for using them up.  I often find I do not use all the layers given, for two reasons.  It makes the card too bulky, and it just looks too heavy for me.  This is another card that qualifies for the Use it Up in 2012 Challenge.

This last card is a get well card for my sister in law, who has just come out of hospital, and is very limited in what she can do at the moment.  She is someone who usually flies around the countryside, with so many activities that it make my head hurt,  The image is from Joanna Sheen's Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady, a lovely soft image.  It is decoupaged, but as usual not all layers are used.  She seemed to like the card, but I suspect she like the fresh bread and the Victoria Sandwich more.

Now, if you have got right down to here, I am sure you would like to pop over to the home of Julia Dunnit, the wonderful lady who brings us all together each Wednesday.  I hope to meet many of you over there.  Have a wonderful week.

Alas, Maggie, your craft table resembles mine as I also am committed to sewing today and I am not a happy crafter. Text from Lil' Sis' wanting 20 wriggly-wiggly worms making so needs must I suppose. Fingers itching to get the double-sided tape and ink-pads and stamps out so the sooner those worms are done the better! Debbie #85

I think your desk looks pretty tidy - I guess it's all relative to how obsessed we are (or otherwise!) about neatness.... the cards are fab, I hope your SIL gets better soon.

Hi Maggie, your desk doesn't look as though it needs much clearing before you set to sewing ... and I hate altering jeans and trousers too :) Your cards are lovely - I think we've all got stuff that's been tucked away in our stash for so long that where and when has been long forgotten. The UIU is certainly making us look out these items though. Have a good week. Elizabeth x #99

Oh Maggie, your bird card is exquisite, I love it. Your desk looks really neat and just ready for crafting so get that sewing done quick!
The scarf/shawlette pattern I figured out myself and can send you a copy if you email me. It's going global this past week as I've had so many requests! It's so easy too.
Love JoZarty x

I hope your sewing goes well (and fast!) so you can get to the stamping! The card you made for your sister in law is wonderful. I hope she is back to flying around the countryside again soon!

oooh i can see alot more of your craft mat than you can of mine :o) The 2 cards are lovely! I don't really do any decoupage but I do agree they can sometimes look a little bulky with all of the layers, yours look really nice. Good luck with the sewing! That is something I am no good at at all, I can sew a button on and that's about my lot! x

The tidying up before you allow yourself to do the fun stuff made me smile!! Oh, how I recognise that, it's the only way I can tackle the less appealing housework jobs!! Lol...
I love that blue tit card, it's so cute. I agree, multi layered decoupage is so not my taste - simple is so often the best!

doesn't matter if the table of determinate purpose is clear it is still sticky (I blame the spray glue). Time for a new oul cloth me thinks.......glad you managed to get it clear and find time to craft.

Hi there Maggie,

Both of your cards are beautiful. I love birds, so I must say the one for your sister-in-law is my favorite.

I hate sewing too!

Happy WOYWW

Love your cards ...so acurate in your cutting ...I'm rubbish. I have never done 3-D decopage ...only the Victorian style.

Very pretty cards - I love the lilies but the birds are my favourite. I am having a rest from making little frocks - I have been making children's dressing up outfits for a friend instead!! Have a good week. x Jo

Hi maggie, hope the sewing went well! I'm with you on the rosettes, if you can do it without spending a fortune, go for it. I was demo;ing at Hobbycraft yesterday, and one of my cards had a rosette on, and another had a paper flower I had made, and those were the 2 things people wanted most to see 'how to'.

Love the card with the waterlilies - I have tons of decoupage collected over the years and slowly gathering dust as I am much more a stamping girl now - must check out your 'use it up' idea!

Thanks for your comments on my blog
