Congratulations to our fabulous hostess, Julia, for looking after us for 300 Wednesdays, giving us such great hospitality. For those who have been in the darkest jungle, WOYWW stands for What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday. Julia will explain it far better, but it the day when folks from all over the world come together and show each other what we have on our desks. Messy desks are especially welcome as they give us more to look at.
My desk today is uncharacteristically tidy. I was ready to start a completely new project so I just swept the space clear, leaving out just what was needed. The main event is hidden under the paper, but you can see the Floral piece I did for a challenge/
The second shot shows more of what is going on, a brand new set of gouache paints all ready with brushes. This piece is for a challenge to celebrate the life of Jane Crosby, who died last year. The idea is for us to take inspiration from her crafting and to, hopefully, pass that inspiration on to others. With that in mind, I decided that I would face up to my demons which have been with me since I was told at school that I was rubbish at art. This is the first attempt at painting since that day. I have no idea what I am doing, no knowledge of the skills, so I am just trying things out. I will blog this project at a later date.
I had to show you this shot of my littlest dog, Gemma, who is totally disgusted with me today. As she was disgustingly and stinkily sick last night, she is being starved today and, as you can see, is taking a very dim view of it.
Julia does like us to be fairly brief on a Wednesday so I shall leave you with a teaser from my painting project - just one tiny corner. So now I will wish you all a very Happy 300th WOYWW and leave you to visit all the other desks on show at Julia's Stamping Ground. Come along and join in with us, show us your desk and visit as many as you can find time for. We would love you to leave comments as you go.

You filled me with such happiness for you, Maggie, that you are facing those evil demons that have pursued you for always! I'm so proud of you and can see why you should be, too, as your art is fantastic!! Keep it up and Happy 300th WOYWW!! (Hope Gemma feels better soon!) Hugs, Darnell #15

Morning Maggie, ..I do love to see how your craft desk looks...and I am really looking forward to seeing your finished piece of art....have a lovely day...hugs...xxxx
Poor Gemma, they do let us know their displeasure with us! I've heard of gouache paints but have no idea what they are exactly so looking forward to seeing your finished work. Diane #39
Hi Marg, its shocking what thoughts we are left with from schooldays, isn't it? So many of us feel 'non- arty' because of unimaginative teachers from way back then. Yours is looking very interesting, and from what I can see, very realistic. Looking forward to the NEC, only a couple of weeks now. Love & Hugs, Shaz #27 xx
Hi I'm trying to visit everyone on this special WOYWW. Poor Gemma. Your little peak looks fab . I was told I was no good at art - probably true in my case :-) but not good to be told that when a child :-( Anne x #38
Love your painting, and hope your sweet little pup feels better. Poor thing! Happy WOYWW #300! Sandy Leigh #58
I often wonder if those uninspiring teachers that made such an impression on us ever take the time to think back and remember us. We sure remember them..and not in a good way! I am glad you have picked up the brushes and are giving it a try. I am interested in those gouache type paints as I have not tried them and hear they are full of lovely pigment! Ooh, Gemma is NOT happy with you, is she? That's the real evil eye you're getting there, lol!!
Honestly, school teachers can wreck someone's confidence sometimes... you feel like that about art and I thought I was useless at sewing! And are we? Of course not...I like your sneaky peek of the painting very much!!
Hugs, LLJ 7 xx
Hope the pup recovers soon.
Loving what sneaky peek you provided of your painting project and looking forward to seeing it in full soon. C x

Hi Maggie, happy 300th WOYWW, ooow the painting does look interesting..and yes just have a go, we can surprise ourselves. Love the floral canvas. Cheers RobynO#14
Maggie, I remember being told I was stupid, and had no common sense. It took me until I was accepted into a Ph.D. program before I realized it was NOT me. Although I may doubt my art, I will never doubt my self worth. Glad you faced your demons, because I sure like that sneak peek. Happy 300th WOYWW from #3.
You know, a good teacher is worth their weight in gold, truly, but a bad one? one that undermines a child's confidence for life? There is a particular circle of hell just for them. Well done you for rising above. I thought of you while watching a Clarity show last weekend :) Had to make sure I popped round this WOYWW.
Hope you had a Happy WOYWW day!
