Welcome to my blog

I hope you enjoy reading my posts, and please leave me a comment. I always enjoy reading them, and will try to visit you in return.

For security reasons for me and for you, I would appreciate it if you would leave your name on your comments.

You are welcome to copy any of my designs, as long as you do not take credit for them yourself. I am very happy for you to sell them. If I have used anyone else's design, I always try to give credit where it is due. If I have missed anything, please let me know and I will put things right.

This is intended to be mainly about my crafting stories, as a personal record of what I do. However, I interpret crafting quite widely, not just paper crafting but other things too. I have a butterfly mind and like to change from one thing to another depending on what I feel like on a given day - knitting, crochet, cross-stitch, cards, baking and several others, including my favourite right now, parchment, both traditional skills and Groovi, very relaxing and calming to do.

I have decided to put some structure into my blog so that each day will have something of a theme.
Monday- for Mindfulness; Tuesday - Tidy Up Day; Wednesday - What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday; Thursday - Technique and Tips; Friday - Finish Off Day; Saturday - Start Something New; Sunday - Anything Goes
These themes are not hard and fast and will be changed if I feel the need.

WOW 204

As you can see, this is not my normal desk.  As yet, I have not managed to get back to crafting in my normal way, but I needed something to keep my fingers and mind occupied in the evenings, so knitting and crochet seemed to be the answer.  This is a jacket for an imminently expected baby.  I chose to do a 2 year old size as they have so many of the new born sizes.  I am also ringing the changes by doing a ripple crochet blanket (thanks Jo for the pattern).

I am keeping this post short and sweet this week, but I do want to say to everyone how grateful I am for all the support I have had from so many of you.  It means more than you can imagine.  I know that I will never get over it, but with your help and the help of my family and friends, I can endeavour to cope and build my life in a different way.  I am sorry that I did not respond personally to all of you, but I know you understand, and I have read everything.

Thank you.

Hi Maggie glad to see you are keeping yourself occupied. I know from experience that it is really hard to get back into the craft you enjoyed together but in time maybe it will become easier.
Take care and most of all take your time it does get easier I still have my days even after 4 years

Oh Maggie, I'm so happy to see you on the desks again after the truly dreadful month you've just gone through. I'm so so sorry about the loss of your husband Geoff....it's the one thing that we all dread happening. I think crafting is a good move, doing something with your hands helps.
Sending you big hugs and lots of love,
LLJ 27 xx

What an awesome sweater you are working on! I am sorry to hear about the passing of your loved one. I haven't been on line much the past month due to 'issues' with health and this was the first I heard. I will keep you in my thoughts! Looking forward to seeing the finished sweater and the blanket you make. Vickie #41

Ah Maggie, so nice to see you here, and I say jolly well done on finding anything to do that keeps you from over thinking. I don' think anyone is expecting you to respond personally to their messages..mostly we just want to support you through your loss and adjusting.

Knitting ...and expect crochet too ...is one of the best ways to focus the mind apparently. You will find the best way cope, whether it is keeping everything to youself and finding your way through things or talking the hind legs off all that will listen to the events around the bereavment and how you feel about it all...that was me. There is not a right way. My thoughts are with you xx66

So good to see you back blogging, and you must do things as feel 'right' to you. As someone else said - one day at a time. So happy your family & friends are there to be supportive. Lovely little sweater and how sweet it will look on the little one. How wonderful you have the skill to give such a thoughtful & useful handmade gift. The parents will treasure it I'm sure. Hugs.
