Welcome to my blog

I hope you enjoy reading my posts, and please leave me a comment. I always enjoy reading them, and will try to visit you in return.

For security reasons for me and for you, I would appreciate it if you would leave your name on your comments.

You are welcome to copy any of my designs, as long as you do not take credit for them yourself. I am very happy for you to sell them. If I have used anyone else's design, I always try to give credit where it is due. If I have missed anything, please let me know and I will put things right.

This is intended to be mainly about my crafting stories, as a personal record of what I do. However, I interpret crafting quite widely, not just paper crafting but other things too. I have a butterfly mind and like to change from one thing to another depending on what I feel like on a given day - knitting, crochet, cross-stitch, cards, baking and several others, including my favourite right now, parchment, both traditional skills and Groovi, very relaxing and calming to do.

I have decided to put some structure into my blog so that each day will have something of a theme.
Monday- for Mindfulness; Tuesday - Tidy Up Day; Wednesday - What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday; Thursday - Technique and Tips; Friday - Finish Off Day; Saturday - Start Something New; Sunday - Anything Goes
These themes are not hard and fast and will be changed if I feel the need.

WOYWW - 139

Before I show you my desk this week, I just have one thing to say - YIPPEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!  (Apologies to the punctuation police, but I don't care)  We got home very late last night, just checked the emails before shutting the computer down for the night, and found a lovely email from Di to tell me that I had won Sandra's Rudolph Challenge for this month.  I was so chuffed.

Now I had better fulfil the purpose of this post on a Wednesday, which is to show you all my very messy desk for this week.  I apologise for the poor quality of the pictures this week.  They are from my phone, mainly because I was too busy (idle) to come downstairs and then go back again with the proper camera.  You can see the stuff left over from creating my entry for Less is More this week, which took four attempts to get right, so there was a lot of left- overs.  They will need to be gathered up and used up in Snippets cards for Di's playground  - lots of small cards, I think.

I have also been experimenting with making flowers from different sizes of hearts, so there is one version at the base of my beloved Ottlite.  This second photo shows some of the rejects before they get chopped up, and the papers I used for the flower.  I created that from a photo of a beautiful Rosa Mundi from our garden, which I blew up and printed both sides before punching the hearts out.

The other main thing you can see is to do with my latest non-crafting project, which is to convert some of our book collection to PDF's to transfer to our Kindles.  Several of our favourite authors do not seem to be appearing in the Kindle library, so we are using the Windows 7 voice recognition software to read the books into the computer to transfer later.  At the moment, it is slow, and I could type four times faster, but you do need to persevere to teach it to understand you.  I am hoping it will get quicker - we will see.  Hence the headset with the microphone attached.

The rest of the week is getting quite busy, with an optician's appointment amongst it all, and some work on a friend's computer., and a teach in with her on how to use some of the programs she has to make better use of them.  I tend to use a combination of two graphics programs - Roxio Photosuite and My Craft Studio.  With those two, I can do most things I want, to manipulate images.  I like to use as many of my own photos as possible, especially some of the vintage family ones, but they do need computer treatment before use.

OK, folks, that is all for this week, so it is time you went on your way round all the other desks on show over at Julia's desk exchange.  Do have fun, and thank you all for your lovely visits and comment this week.  I will try to return the visits as soon as possible.

Well done on winning the challenge Maggie!!!! Now do please forgive my stupidity (you usually manage to overlook it!!!) but if you are reading-out-loud books to put on your Kindle doesn't that mean you have already "read" the book and so don't need to read it again on the Kindle? Or are they favourite books that you want to read over and over again? Love Debbie xXx #84

So glad I caught you with the email before you went to bed - well done again on the win Maggie! Reading your WOYWW made me feel ready for bed myself - wow, you have so much on the go there!

Aren't those heart flowers fun? I wonder if they were punched out of paper and then scrumpled before being stuck together if the result would be quite shabby chic (it would be shabby at the very least - grin!). Di xx

Hi there Maggie, A Huge congrats on the blog challenge win - saw it myself earlier in my browse around and said it was a worthy win, dear blogging buddy. You are a very busy bee buzzing around doing many things indeed you are not letting the grass grow under your feet are you - have not even a Kindle, Ipad or or even a smart phone - yet! and to be honest wondered why you read books to go on the kindle when you already have the book? which you must read to put it on in the first place.. I guess it must be a super fav. one to get that treatment! thanks so much for popping over, and for sharing. Happy WOYWW! Shaz in Oz. x #21

Congratulations on winning! That is exciting! It must be terribly tedious to transfer books to the kindle and I'm really wondering why you have to if you have the book?!!! Patsy from
