Welcome to my blog

I hope you enjoy reading my posts, and please leave me a comment. I always enjoy reading them, and will try to visit you in return.

For security reasons for me and for you, I would appreciate it if you would leave your name on your comments.

You are welcome to copy any of my designs, as long as you do not take credit for them yourself. I am very happy for you to sell them. If I have used anyone else's design, I always try to give credit where it is due. If I have missed anything, please let me know and I will put things right.

This is intended to be mainly about my crafting stories, as a personal record of what I do. However, I interpret crafting quite widely, not just paper crafting but other things too. I have a butterfly mind and like to change from one thing to another depending on what I feel like on a given day - knitting, crochet, cross-stitch, cards, baking and several others, including my favourite right now, parchment, both traditional skills and Groovi, very relaxing and calming to do.

I have decided to put some structure into my blog so that each day will have something of a theme.
Monday- for Mindfulness; Tuesday - Tidy Up Day; Wednesday - What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday; Thursday - Technique and Tips; Friday - Finish Off Day; Saturday - Start Something New; Sunday - Anything Goes
These themes are not hard and fast and will be changed if I feel the need.

WOYWW 141 - where is this year going to already?

Not a very productive desk to show you today, just a pile of bits and pieces.  There is a vey good reason for this as my DH is about to put in a couple of alterations to make life a little easier for me, up the left hand end of the wall.

The far end was never finished when my room was done, partly because we could not decide the best use of that piece of wall.  After I said what I wanted, the technical department decided how to do it.  After painting the remainder of the wall, there will be a large cork board to stick notes to myself, with a solid piece of wood for cup hooks so I can store my heat guns, brayer, steel inlay rulers and a few other bits that I can never find when I want them.  Above that will be the clock you can see falling over on my desk at the moment.  I am also looking for a new kitchen roll holder to put on the wall.  I tried the desk standing variety, which looks good, but it always results in kitchen roll lying all across my desk so that I can reach the end without getting up.  I am still looking for the one I want so you will have to wait to view that as well.

This card is one I started as a possibility for the Less is More challenge, and you can see it in the previous photos.  However, I looked at it for 48 hours and decided this morning that the stripes had to go, so I chopped them off.  I think that looks better, but I am still not happy.  I may chop it further, making it into a topper and edging it better or just bin it and start again.  The stamps are the mini village from Clarity, with a few little people added in freehand - I know, I need more practice at that..

Come on folks, help me, do I leave it as it is, chop it into a topper, or bin it?  Your opinions would be gratefully received.

Having read Julia's post today, I agree that it is easy enough to remove the Word Verification, and leave in place the other tool which allows you to vet all comments before they go live.  In 18 months, I have only had one problem, and that was a perfectly safe and good comment ended up in the spam box.  It was easy enough to pull it back and post it.  If anyone want to know how to do it, I am one of the closet geeks that Julia was talking about, and can email you the details and do what I can to help.

If you have got this far, well done and thank you, but it is now time you moved on.  I have warmed your coat for you, and your gloves and scarf are on the radiator too.  So off you go to join all the others in Julia's living room.  She may not have wine and nibbles ready, but she is a great hostess making it easy for us to wander round and chat to all her other visitors.  Thank you  Julia.

I read my spam mail a couple of weeks ago and I had a few oriental messages from one specific blog post, but nothing else. I've never gotten spam in my inbox before. And I discontinued word verification back in 2008. Now I know who to call if I need a computer geek (grin)!!

Oh boy, but that piece of wall is going to come in handy with all the storage of your gadgety bits and pieces. I do understand your need for this as I HATE searching for stuff, much prefer it in its right place!
I would say if you still not happy with that image, then bin it. I have done that with the odd thing I've made. They've ended up as stuffing for draught excluders!!

Love the card, better without the stripes.... ooh definitely keep. I would keep it simple, keep some white around the edge then a bit of matting and layering and mount onto a card so it fits snuggly. Far too good to throw!!!!!!!!!!! Id be thrilled to receive it. Love the clarity houses.
Will now be following you to see what you do with it!!lol

Oh my, kicking me out and onto the next blog already? How nice of you to have warmed my coat first though.
I love your countryside view card just as it is, don't monkey with it! I think your rose card in the below post could do with having the stripes cut off it as they don't really go, perhaps too thin? I agree about the don't breathe when using leafing. Goodness.

OK, I would not bin it, but I don't see where you would chop it either? The only part of it that I would chop off would be the right side where the greenery goes up the side, maybe meant to be trees? Other wise it's very pretty, so there, that's my 2 cents worth! lol Thanks for letting me take a peek at your desk, waving hi from the hills of North Carolina :)

Thank you for your lovely comment on my post.
It sounds as though you have the perfect plan for your wall...as for the card ...I'd cut round the wiggly edge and mount it on another smaller card...so its a card front rather than a topper...do not bin it.
As for diets ...I keep putting off the starting date..I think I shall make it the day after my 65th (march 10) and just get my head in the right place between now and D-Day lol

Maggie, I'm back to answer your question about the electric scissors. NO, they are NOT any good for intricate detailed work. In fact, when I first got them, I was really disappointed with the "gift." However, they are great for cutting long rolls of wrapping paper, and the rosin paper. Not good for much else, though. That's why they are only good for a limited number of uses.

Hi Maggie

Sorry I'm late this week - ever felt like strangling British Telecom?

Keep it for sure - much too lovely to throw away.Remember to show us your craft room additions - lucky you.

Oh, and re. the skip thieves - I'd totally forgotten until you suggested the sprinkler idea that eventually our little manageress used to hop up onto a chair and squirt cheap cooking oil over the contents of the skip. Just hope no thieves hopped in and lit a ciggie else it could have been 'frying tonight' :))

Hi Marg- I love that picture, if you aren't happy with it, how about cutting it into 6 or 8 squares, then reassemble on black with a little space between them, then it would look like a view from a window? The wording on my images is done with the program you love to hate, lol.Just made it semi-transparent,and saved,so I can open it then drag it on top of each image, then save as a copy. You can probably do the same sort of thing with your program. we are doing permanent Pm now, and I agree with Geoff, you get much more done. I will speak to the Tech Dept later, and see how he is doing with your server. Love Shaz
