The journey to Barmouth was quite spectacular once we cleared the motorway section and passed Shrewsbury. I spent some time with the camera poking out through the car window taking photos for our daughter. She loves the area, but complained that she has never seen the mountains through the heavy cloud. As you can see, the weather was very kind to us as we climbed up past Cader Idris, so spectacular.
We took a slight diversion from our route when we got to Barmouth (not planned) turning left too soon and doing an unscheduled drive along the promenade. Fortunately, there is an island at the end of the prom so turning round was not a problem, and we were soon turning in the right place and setting up the van for the week.
Crafting was limited to playing with my Promarkers and finding out just what they would or would not do. I had stamped and printed a large pile of images on a variety of media before we left home, so there was plenty to play with. I did learn one important fact - not everything works with Promarkers, some are better suited to water colours. This particular design (an old embroidery transfer) did work well with the markers, and I think it looks quite good, and in keeping with its original.
My desk this week, is not really a place of inspiration, and has seen very little use, but I aim to get going again later today with a project (cannot talk about that one yet, but maybe later). The ship decoupage is ready to mount for a birthday later next month, but I still need to find the right backing card.
My final photo this week is a bit of a tease, ready for next week. You don't get to see very much, so you will have to wait until the right day. In the meantime, why don't you hop over to Julia at http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/ where our leader has links to so many more desks to study.
Thank you to my new followers. You are so welcome and your interest is greatly appreciated. Also, a special thanks to Shax from Oz, who sent a message to check if I was ok, as I had not blogged for 2 weeks.

Sounds like you have had a nice break away and had some quality time plaing with your promarkers,
tfs today,
Hugs xx
Wales is a beautiful place to have a holiday. Snowdonia is very special! Hope you are all back to normal and well now. Good to take something to do while away and Promarkers are very versatile.
Best wishes
sue xx

Oooh! Is that a sneak of your PiF I wonder? Sometimes its good to be limited in supply as it makes you really explore one theme I think.

Terrific pictures. Living on this side of the pond, it's always nice to see the other side. Thanks for sharing! Great image and card, beautiful colouring!
I was wondering where you were...you've been missed but fabulous photos that make me proud to be British and I remember many happy holidays in Barmouth as a child!
Thanks for sharing your desk...
Love Emma xx

Happy crafting and WOYWW! hugs Debxx
Great photographs, hope you are back to 100%.
I love working with Promarkers but I have to agree they are not suited to all colouring projects

What a shame your hols were blighted by the dreaded tummy bug. I love Snowdonia and we can even get there for a day out from here. Great pics....You'll just have to go again!
Lovely photos. I also have to take things with me to do when I go away - usually Promarkers, a few new stamps and sometimes decoupage to cut out. It's hard to do nothing isn't it? Hope you're better now. Teresa x
my that looks like a beautiful spot! And that image you coloured looks fabulous!
Happy WOYWW!

At last I can leave a comments (not sure what's wrong with blogger)
Beautiful pics, sorry to hear you were not well hope you are on the mend.
I love Promarkers but as you say they are not suited to every colouring project but you've done a wonderful job on the emboidery pattern.

I too had commenting probs :( Try again now - great photos of some super scenery. Also, I have a spare pkt of the little heart shaped doilies (6 white and 6 red) that you commented on - if you'd like some to play with. The purple one was a white one I'd coloured with a Pro Marker. Just drop me an email at di_wray@hotmail.com with your addy and they will be on the way. Di x

sorry you didnt have the best time away due to illness, hope the break did you good though xx
Hi Maggie, Blogger, it seems, is behaving itself today so just thought I'd pop in and say thanks for your comment. I've also remembered that the embroidery transfer you've used is exactly like those on a tablecloth my mother started when she was pregnant with me and was still working on during her fifth! She ran out of the silks at one point so sent the uncompleted work to Coates for them to colour match the threads enabling her to finally complete it - I was in my twenties by then and she was expecting her 6th child. Truly a labour of love :) Elizabeth x
I once (about 20 years ago) took the road from Shrewsbury to Mount Snowdon and I still remember how beautiful it was. We actually had sun that day! The following day we climbed Snowdon and it was COLD!!!
What pretty pictures! I love your card and I like the shiny holders on your desk! :)
Sounds like you had a great holiday. Glad to hear you are doing better healthwise! Thanks for sharing. Vickie #46

YOu're right Maggie - the PMs and YOU have made a lovely job of that embroidery style image, really nice. Owning a bunch of PMs will meander away loads of hours for you. Hope you're both back at 100% after tummy bugs - poor you.
Sorry to hear you and husband have been ill - hope you are both better now! The scenery around Barmouth is lovely isnt it - I havent been there for years now though :(. Sorry I am late passing by this week and thanks for visiting me this week too.
What a shame your Hubby was poorly on your holiday. It always seems to happen when you start to relax doesn't it. I hope you are both feeling much better now.
The photos you took are gorgeous. I don't know Wales very well but it looks beautiful.
Hugs Lisa#97
Glad you hear you and your DH are on the mend - lovely photos , sorry I am late had blogger problems but think I have found a fix for now lol
I’m sorry to hear that your break away was ruined but upset tummies Maggie but at least you still managed to get some wonderful photos and also have a very valid reason for a repeat visit sometime in the future.
Your desk looks great and I love the card you’ve made from the embroidery transfer. It’s strange, when I first looked at it after clicking on it to enlarge it, I thought it had been stitched so you’ve done a great job of colouring it.
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a message, its most appreciated.
Happy Crafting!
Sue
