Welcome to my blog

I hope you enjoy reading my posts, and please leave me a comment. I always enjoy reading them, and will try to visit you in return.

For security reasons for me and for you, I would appreciate it if you would leave your name on your comments.

You are welcome to copy any of my designs, as long as you do not take credit for them yourself. I am very happy for you to sell them. If I have used anyone else's design, I always try to give credit where it is due. If I have missed anything, please let me know and I will put things right.

This is intended to be mainly about my crafting stories, as a personal record of what I do. However, I interpret crafting quite widely, not just paper crafting but other things too. I have a butterfly mind and like to change from one thing to another depending on what I feel like on a given day - knitting, crochet, cross-stitch, cards, baking and several others, including my favourite right now, parchment, both traditional skills and Groovi, very relaxing and calming to do.

I have decided to put some structure into my blog so that each day will have something of a theme.
Monday- for Mindfulness; Tuesday - Tidy Up Day; Wednesday - What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday; Thursday - Technique and Tips; Friday - Finish Off Day; Saturday - Start Something New; Sunday - Anything Goes
These themes are not hard and fast and will be changed if I feel the need.

WOYWW - 152

I was missing in action last week, mainly because I knew I would not have time to visit many people and I thought it was unfair for you to visit me, when I could not return the favour.  However, the mad panic to get cads done for this month is over and I am now working to do June and July.  So I am back, although a bit late, and here is my desk, well part of it anyway.  I am in the middle of putting inserts in cards that were already made, so that I do not have to panic when we come back off holiday.

You can see three that are now done, and with their envelopes, and to the left, a pile waiting for their inserts.  The little orange handled thing is my favourite Fiskars finger blade, which I find so much easier to use than my normal straight blades.  to the right of that are my sprung Fiskars scissors, and next to them the puffer brush for cleaning off photographic slides before scanning them.  As you can also see, my little Scottie is proudly displaying my beautiful WOYWW badge this week - it matches his coat perfectly.

I hope you have all survived the dreadful winds and rain, and no-one is suffering from floods.  We woke up on Sunday morning to find we had lost one of the trees on the island in front of our house.  We think it was a Mountain Ash, which are notoriously touchy at the best of time.  What amazed us was the almost total lack of root system on it, so it would always have been vulnerable to damage.  Fortunately it fell in a way that saved those near from damage, not like another tree not far away which fell across a main road, crashing into several new cars on the Volvo forecourt.  That tree had a preservation order on it and was huge.  At least, no-one was hurt.

I am looking forward to visiting as many as possible of you this week, but it may take a while so please be patient.  In the meantime, I hope you will find time to visit many more of the WOYWWers, hosted by the indefatigable Julia at Stamping Ground.  See you soon.

It sounds like we have all had enough of this rain and bad weather for a little while at least.

Hi Marg- glad to see the tree falling didn't cause ant damage to anything. the wind was incredible, and I see today that Worcester is flooded, the Severn has spilt over to the surrounding roads. Fortunately no one was hurt in the Volvo garage one, I do agree with protecting our ancient trees, but there really needs to be some sort of 'health check' for these huge beasts, and to know when we cannot hang on to them any longer. I have been having so much trouble posting images into my blog, I am fairly sure its a FF update that's caused it, as it works Ok in IE. Enjoy your holiday, Speak Soon, Love Shaz xx

Nice to see you back Maggie, we had a tree fall down in the same manor Sunday, beni and I came across it on our afternoon walk and beni thought it was a playground as the top of the tree was huge and laden with leaves so he was running in and out of the branches:)

It sounds like the weather has been much wilder in your neck of the woods, Maggie. What a shame about your tree. We've had plenty of rain but not the winds thank fully.
You need to get together with Pixie Di, I noticed she was doing the same job when I visited her earlier.
Your blossom is looking beautiful.

That is one big tree to have fall over. Here in desert, trees grow shallow roots that spread out far from the tree to get as much rain as possible from the little rain we get. Needless to say, high winds tend to take them out. Sometimes they can be put back upright and do okay, if not a bit wonky. Pretty cards on your desk. Smart of you to get them finalized beforehand. My problem lately is the cards are done, but I just can't gather myself together enough to get them in the mail

What beautiful trees, shame when they go! At least no-one was hurt. Your card in the post above is great too!

Hi Maggie,

Your cards are beautiful. I hadn't heard of a finger blade before. I must take a closer look. Oh, that poor tree. It looks like it was a rather large tree too. I wonder if the roots are near the surface?

Glad to read you didn't post last week since I didn't make it around to find you. One of those weeks that started strong, then went to the dogs.

Preservation order? For a tree? I can't believe I live in the US (supposedly a and am a green person who has never heard of this.

I was glad to see your WOYWW button. It somehow makes you feel so loved. Happy WOYWW from #4 this week.

Gosh what a horrible shock for you all in regards the tree coming down, although it was good to hear that nobody was hurt [[hugs]].

Lovely cards Maggie, hope you're all caught up now. Congrats on winning the Craft A Scene challenge too. Shame about the tree, but good thing that was the only damage, and you're right, the roots are tiny!
