Welcome to my blog

I hope you enjoy reading my posts, and please leave me a comment. I always enjoy reading them, and will try to visit you in return.

For security reasons for me and for you, I would appreciate it if you would leave your name on your comments.

You are welcome to copy any of my designs, as long as you do not take credit for them yourself. I am very happy for you to sell them. If I have used anyone else's design, I always try to give credit where it is due. If I have missed anything, please let me know and I will put things right.

This is intended to be mainly about my crafting stories, as a personal record of what I do. However, I interpret crafting quite widely, not just paper crafting but other things too. I have a butterfly mind and like to change from one thing to another depending on what I feel like on a given day - knitting, crochet, cross-stitch, cards, baking and several others, including my favourite right now, parchment, both traditional skills and Groovi, very relaxing and calming to do.

I have decided to put some structure into my blog so that each day will have something of a theme.
Monday- for Mindfulness; Tuesday - Tidy Up Day; Wednesday - What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday; Thursday - Technique and Tips; Friday - Finish Off Day; Saturday - Start Something New; Sunday - Anything Goes
These themes are not hard and fast and will be changed if I feel the need.

WOYWW - 174

I cannot remember when I last saw the whole of my cutting mat, but it is a long time.  Not only that but I have actually put away most of the stuff that usually lives there, in fairly sensible places, although I have now lost one complete batch of melt dust. and the papers that go with it.  I do have faith that it will turn up.  Anyway, this clear state of affairs did not last very long, as I now have all the things I need to teach a friend on Thursday.

I now have a large tray in situ, containing all the things I need (I hope), but she is coming to me son it will not take too long to find anything I have forgotten - as long as I do not need the melt dust.  These photos were taken about 17 minutes after midnight so I think they count as Wednesday.  We shall be working with the Clarity Oast House kit, and trying different methods of colouring and creating the background.  If you look, you can see my crib sheet that I have worked with today to give us a start.  I was not too sure about the correct colour of hops so I downloaded a picture  and printed it for our use.

You might also pick out the ink pads ready and the Splodge mat for use with the brayer.  I also dug out just 6 Promarkers.  I want to keep the palette simple and very limited.  We shall also have a go with a make up brush, and sponges to get the background right.  I hope it all works out and my friend has fun, which is what it should be all about.

I am off to bed now, but I hope to meet you all at Julia's Place for a coffee and a nice piece of cake maybe a bit later, and a wander round to see what you are all doing this week.  See you soon.  xx

OMG! What a neat and clean desk. I think I have that same mat in green but it will be awhile before I can get the desk cleared to be sure. Have fun at your class. Have a great week. Vickie #22

Wow, a very tidy desk indeed, think I may have to invest in one of those Splodge mats, seems everyone who uses it raves about it! Hope you have fun crafting with your friend. Happy WOYWW, Anne x #13

Oooh1 Maggie, how lovely and tidy you are, well done. It's tidy but still lots of lovely stash to spy on too.
glad you are thinking of making an Afghan blanket. I got fed up stitching the granny squares together so the wave/ripple is really therapeutic and much easier. No need for a pattern and there are lots of easy to follow videos on Youtube for the ripple. It's just straight rows of trebles
You hook two trebles together twice (thus decreasing 2 stitches),
treble three,
then make three trebles into the next stitch
all along the row.
The decreases create the dip in the ripple
and the increase makes the rise.
Just DO IT!! You'll love it once you start and you'll be thrilled with the results..
Good luck Jo x

Occasionally have a tidy, see my green mat & loose things I tidied away-I think it must be a crafter thing! Find three things, lose two.
Looking forward to Paris, one place I've always wanted to go. Speak soon, love Shaz xx

Good grief, thought you were moving for a minute - panic!! I'm sure you'll have a lovely day with your friend and that she'll really appreciate your time and preparation efforts...it really does pay off. I couldn't tell you about the colour of hops without help either!

I am constantly nagged by my son to keep more 'white space' on the desk - I am truly impressed by your vast expanse of green space, and to be so organised with your tray - double brownie points for tidiness!,

That mat looks so purty and clean! lol How long will that last? The mess is slowly and surely creeping back onto my clean desk, but I am fighting the good fight and trying to tame it! Speaking of losing things, I have been looking for a pair of tweezors for ages, if you find them, let me know and I'll keep an eye out for your melt dust ( is that like embossing powder? ) waving hi from the hills of North Carolina :)

Hi Maggie, I bet that's the tidiest desk we will see this week :) And you seem to have thought of everything for the session with your friend - it sounds like fun. Hope you have a good week and happy WOYWW, Elizabeth x #49

Jealous, jealous, jealous! You can see the top of your desk! And everything is put away in a sensible place. You know, if your friend fails to show you can always pop 'round to my place and I'll let you do the same to my area. I'll even keep the cranky kitty away. Have fun playing!

Sorry I am late, I just get so engrossed in all the blogs that time runs away with me, oh, I havent been here since yesterday lol. I love your clean and tidy desk and I know what you mean about putting things away and not finding them for a while but its lovely when you do find your things again. I hope you and your friend had fun and what is a splodge mat? I must go and investigate. Tracey ±93
